I just started two days ago and along with the light-headedness, I have zero energy today (day three). I sure hope this goes away soon. I drive for a living. I have lost 5 pounds already though. I have even had a few low carb beers!!

Wow. I actually looked at the site. That's horrible. Not that I use Barilla but I certainly won't ever again. Hell, I rarely use Dreamfields because I'm not sure about their claims of being low-carb.

Of course drug companies have been using the tactic of using studies the are poorly done (likely on purpose or with an intended outcome) for a long time. It's not hard to find studies to show what you want them too. Funny that they didn't use the newer JAMA studies about weight loss that favored low carb.

I've gone back to eating hard boiled eggs almost every day as a snack and am going to try this one. Actually I should say softboiled, because I accidently undercooked them recently and discovered they taste much better that ways.

Already eat warm soft boiled ones with butter salt and pepper for breakfast sometimes thanks to Dr. Eades's recommendation.

I use liquid dark chocolate stevia in place of the splenda, it mixes up quite nicely. I have tried mixing in peanuts, almonds, and macademia cashew butter -- all 3 varieties were great. I will try the coconut next.

Hi LCC, I am sorry to hear about your elevated blood glucose. The best thing that you can do right now is to get a blood glucose test kit to monitor your BG at home. You will immediately be able to see the relationships bewteen what you eat, how much you move, and your BG levels. I am Type II and have shed 40 pounds in a year, my BG levels are Normal (like normal person normal) by following low carb and monitoring my BG levels.

Next time your doc takes your labs make him think you are "normal". !

Good luck !

I've tried it and it serves it's purpose for the craving. I bought some unsweetened coconut (hard to find) and threw some in for some extra chew. Thanks for the recipe...we've all gotta do what it takes to stay on track, ya know?

In my past life I was a mounds or almond joy junkie, so I always look for alternatives. At Walmart I found a box of Atkins Endulge Chocolate Coconut Bar that really tastes good. I usually hate any kind of "bar", but this one is yummy...1g sugar, 3g net carbs, low-glycemic impact, ya da, ya da....

I've been on blood pressure meds since I was 18. Cholesterol too. Now I'm about to turn 35. I quit my cholosterol meds about 2 years ago after reading the great cholesterol con and doing some research. I've lost a bunch of weight through low-carb and am sure that the severly reduced carb intake has gotten to levels my doctor call perfect. I still look only at triglycerides and hdl while my doctor looks at ldl. She complained for a while but I kept showing her studies and she can't refute the numbers.

I was on 3 different meds for blood pressure. Max doses for at least two possible all. Norvasc, Lotensin HCl and Toprol XL. I started to get lighted headed when I would get up from laying down or sitting on the floor. My doctor evetually agreed to cut back on them. It went away. Now I'm down to 1/2 the Lotensin HCl and the Toprol XL. My goal is to get off those also. Though I think its going to take another 50 pounds and possible some luck as it runs in the family also.

I reckon it was the low carb diet that brought the pressure down. The fact that you continued on this diet could be the reason it has dropped too low. We do need a measure of carbs and the right kind.

Why not get as much information as you can on carbohydrates and how they function in the body. You will be amazed at learning how much of an impact on health, our dietary habits, can cause, especially in connection with carbohydrates and weight.

Wishful thinking on your doc`s behalf that he thinks it`s the meds doing their stuff, but why not ask him still to lower your dose on a trial period and see how you get on.

It is now official that home blood pressure monitoring will help doctors get a better idea of a patients overall pressure, so I would suggest keeping an eye on your own, if the doctor agrees to lower your meds.

Thanks for the recipe! I ran right to the kitchen to whip some up...'cause I was seriously craving some chocolate. This tastes great, and a little bit really satisfied the craving.

I did find that the granular splenda did not mix well, so next time I may try some simple syrup.
