I was never a big fan of dark chocolate – until I had some Lindt Excellence 85% Cocoa Dark Chocolate. This is real chocolate with only 5 grams of carbs for 4 big squares. Why settle for fake chocolates full of sugar alcohols that cause many people to stall, cost a lot, and don’t taste all that great? Lindt chocolate is all natural, extremely high quality, and is no more expensive than the stuff sold to low carb dieters.
I couldn’t find it on their website, but you can find it in their stores as well as well-stocked grocery stores.
Top it all off that cocoa has been touted as having many health benefits – you can read about that here.
Seeing this nine month old post hit on so many times, my curiosity finally got the best of me. I spotted it while shopping today and it was on sale to boot! I had two squares after lunch and another two after dinner. My wife had a nibble and said it tastes like baking chocolate. I don’t know about that, but it sure tastes anything but ordinary. Very rich and very satisfying. You nibble it slowly, savor the flavor, and it lasts a really long time.
Hey, I just tried some of this today. I tried the Lindt 70% the other day and of course it is excellent.
However, since I’m low carbing, I was checking out the carb levels and I see that the 85% let’s you get away with eating a fair amount. This is good stuff! It’s like a wine in that I notice various flavors on the way by.
The only thing I found is that I’d want to have something to finish with when I’m done my chocolate allotment as I end up with a hint of bitter aftertaste once finished… just a hint.
Ooo Lindt! My husband and I recently discovered the joy of 85% dark chocolate. It’s divine! Before going low-carb, I couldn’t stand the taste of the stuff. Too bitter. But with my sweet tooth level tuned back to ‘normal’ (as opposed to ‘Fruity Pebbles Level’), the dark chocolate is delicious.
Love that side effect of low-carb — everything tastes sooo good when you’re taste isn’t warped by processed junk.
Walgreen’s carries Lindt 85% out here in California. Yum!
(enjoyable blog, btw…so glad I stumbled across it.)
Been on low carbs for a couple of months now, I’m feeling like I need a treat now and then so this sounds a great idea. I guess the dark chocolate could be mixed with egg whites or cream to make a mini chocolate mousse, has anyone tried that ?
I had the worst sinus headache for 3 days, tried everything with little help till ate 2 squares of Lindt 85% dark chocolate, and within minutes my headache was gone
