Does Reading Low Carb Blogs Help You Lose Weight?

A while back I posted a survey. I want to do a post on all the interesting info it provided, but I want to give a quick preview of one tidbit.

First off, a survey like this is unscientific. It points to interesting insights that would require more rigorous investigation to come to any firm conclusions on, so keep that in mind here.

Interestingly, I’ve had 51 people fill out the survey and 49 of them lost weight on a low carb diet.

35 of these people lost over 20 lbs.

Of those, more than half lost over 40 lbs.

Now, if I were to jump to conclusions, I’d say that reading this blog means you have a good chance of losing weight on low carb.

Nice try, but as the old saying goes – you can’t wash your car to make it rain.

Interesting though, isn’t it?

  1. Darn, I wish I’d seen the survey. I’ve lost just over 40 pounds on a lowcarb diet, slowly, and am working on losing at least another 40. I’ve maintained the initial loss easily, and while I’m finding the next 40 a struggle to get off, I have no doubt I’ll lose at least half of it eventually. I’m also not worried about maintaining — I seem to be doing that with no problems, and I’ve adapted to the diet so that this is simply normal eating for me now. I do find that visiting low carb sites and blogs is a great help, as well as a pleasure. (I find some of my favorite recipes this way.)

  2. Excellent site lowcarbconfidential.com and I am really pleased to see you have what I am actually looking for here: this .. as it’s taken me literally 3 hours and 46 minutes of searching the web to find you (just kidding!) so I shall be pleased to become a regular visitor 🙂
